FEMA Official Instructed Storm Crews to Avoid Trump Voters

Hurricane Milton caused power outages for over two million homes and businesses.

A FEMA supervisor has been dismissed for instructing staff aiding hurricane survivors to bypass homes displaying support for Donald Trump. FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell condemned the supervisor’s actions as “reprehensible,” emphasizing that FEMA’s mission is to assist all individuals before, during, and after disasters.

Although Criswell's statement on X did not specify the time or location of the incident, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced an investigation by the Division of Emergency Management, calling the directive “targeted discrimination” against Trump supporters in Florida.

FEMA Staff Directed to Avoid Pro-Trump Homes in Florida, Whistleblower Claims

FEMA personnel had been in Florida following Hurricane Milton, assessing damage to determine eligibility for federal aid. According to The Daily Wire, FEMA staff in Lake Placid were instructed to avoid homes with pro-Trump yard signs. Internal messages reportedly read, “Trump sign no entry per leadership.” A whistleblower told the outlet, “It’s almost unbelievable that someone in the federal government would think that’s okay.”

Criswell stated that she would take steps to prevent similar incidents. Congressman James Comer plans to call Criswell before the House Oversight Committee on November 19, and Senator Josh Hawley has called for a full investigation, suggesting prosecution if warranted.

Florida recently endured two significant hurricanes. Hurricane Milton killed at least 24 people and caused widespread power outages, while Hurricane Helene, which struck two weeks prior, became the deadliest U.S. mainland storm since Katrina, claiming over 200 lives, most of them in North Carolina.
